Fashion & Faith Series – Part 1 The Heart Behind What We Wear
Hey loves! 💖
Welcome to the first post in our Fashion & Faith series.
If you’re anything like me, you probably love putting outfits together, scrolling Pinterest for inspo, or finding that *perfect* piece that makes you feel confident.
Fashion is fun—it’s creative, it’s expressive, and honestly, it’s a big part of how we show up in the world.
But here’s the thing: as followers of Christ, our clothes are never *just* clothes.
They’re an outward reflection of what’s happening inside our hearts.
1 Samuel 16:7 reminds us, “People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
So while people might notice our outfit first, God is way more interested in what’s underneath it all.
Our character, our intentions, and our love for Him.
Why the Heart Matters in Fashion
Trends come and go, but what’s eternal is how we carry ourselves in Christ.
Modesty, for example, isn’t about long skirts or covering up every inch—it’s about showing respect for ourselves and others, and about letting our style point people to God instead of just to us.
Think of it this way: fashion can either be a spotlight on ourselves, or it can be a mirror reflecting God’s beauty through us. When we choose outfits with a heart of humility and dignity, we’re saying, “I know who I am, and I don’t need to prove it.”
Finding the Balance
This doesn’t mean fashion has to be boring—far from it!
God is the ultimate Creator, and He gave us the gift of creativity too.
We can play with colors, layers, textures, and accessories in ways that feel fun and fresh while still honoring Him.
The goal isn’t to hide your personality, but to shine it in a way that’s aligned with your values.
Final Thought
So, as we kick off this series, here’s a little challenge: next time you’re picking out an outfit, pause and ask yourself, *“What’s my heart behind this?”* Is it to impress, to compete, or to feel seen—or is it to walk confidently knowing your worth comes from Christ?
Fashion is a tool, loves—it’s up to us to decide how we’ll use it. 💕
